My brown knife fish ( had for a month ) is lying at the bottom of my tank. It was doing perfectly fine until I came home from school today. Before I left, it was doing fine. When I look at it now, its bottom fin looks like it has been chewed off. The "bitten" part is white. The only other fish in the tank is a peacock eel and a rainbow shark. I don't know what could have caused it, but I did add some plants 2 days before this happened.Any help?

I just realised how much info I have left out, here is the rest of the info.

1. Tank Size: 100 Gallons

2. Water Parameters: Nitrate: 0. Nitrite: 0. PH: 6.0. Carbonate Hardness: 80. General Hardness: 120. The city I live in has very hard water, so I can't do much on hardness.

3. It is a freshwater tank

4. My aquarium has been set up for a year. Originally it held 1 Senegal Bichir, but my aunt killed it so I switched to the shark, eel, and knife in the last 2 months.

5. Like I stated, I have a Rainbow Shark and a Peacock Eel. The shark is fairly small, about an inch and a half. I added him the same time as my knife. The eel is probably 5-6 inches long. The eel and shark have never showed signs of aggression towards my knife. The knife itself is 5 inches long.

6. No quarintine

7. Temperature: 78

9. There are plants, recently added within the last few days.

10. No other equipment besides a filter, heater, and bubbler are used.

11. My tank does not receive sunlight and I keep the light off when I go school and when I go to bed. I leave the light on when I get home from school and leave it on for about 6 hours (for the plants).

12. Performed a water change on Sunday. I changed about 10% of the water. I vacuum the substrate.

13. I give my fish blood worms, shrimp, flakes, and the occasional algae wafer. I feed them once every three days.
14. Nothing unusual happening before the incident.

15. The only treatment I have done so far is add salt.

16. I will try to add pictures, but I will have to find my camera first.

I hope this will be enough info.

Things are looking worse... He is now on his back!

He has managed to drift towards a cave, I won't try to mess with him inside his cave so I can't provide any more updates, but I really need the help from you guys.

He will sometimes try to swim, but will end up on his back. He sometimes can get back up and swims for a while until he settles down and goes back on his back.
