Looking to purchase some 3M ColorQuartz sand for my new tank and am now contemplating between brown and black. I like the way black looks as it makes the fish and all the colors in the tank pop. I was thinking brown may have the same effect while having a more "natural" look. So just your personal opinions, would you rather go with black or brown sand? I'm going to be keeping a Florida Gar, and 3 bichirs (Senegal, Ornat & Endlicheri). Thanks in advance BTW..this forum is tight!:headbang2

it'd be your choice in the end, which ever you like more. personally i like regular natural tan sand even though i've been thinking of trying black sand for my festae.

i like black... but had a brown sand before and it looked good..

all personal choice. i do know that with some fish, having dark sand or gravel will make the fish darken more than normal. i have also seen fish in white sand that looked very washed out. fish tend to get their truest colors when they are in a natural looking tank.

I would probably go with the brown if it's more natural looking. If it's more of a tan then go with black.

White sand black background oooHHAAA

That is very cheap but it shows every speck of dirt and debris. Vacuum it turn around and it looks dirty again.
