I went to the local pool company today and they don't list any black sand, should I go with brown or should I hold out and try to find black locally? This will be used for substrate.

what say you?

I say it depends on what you are stocking considering that substrate will change your fishes color!

estes and tahitian moon sand are nice black sands so is 3m if you can find it...

I am stocking with peabass...

Nic, I live in Iowa, we can't find $h!t...

You could always try online...if peabass is what you are stocking then I would wait for the black sand IMO

Just say no to black, does not look natural and what color could look more natural than brown?????????

Black looks nice if you have vibrantly colored fish. He might be going for decoration more than natural. If it is going to be planted they make a flourite in black sand.

no planted tank, decoration. I just found I have snails from some plants from the LFS so today I'm going to make a super gravel vac out of an extra magnum 350...

thanks for all the replies
