So my Emperor 400 finally got established in my tank and I just removed the old little filter I had. On the inside walls of the filter there is like a slime. I took a Q-tip to a small section of it and it scoops up into like a dark brown. What is this? Is it any part of the bacteria colony or just some kind of waste? If it is good bacteria any way to transfer it? I'm thinking it may just be some kind of build up or waste

ive had the same thing in my AquaClear filters, removing the mini filter inside.. also used a q-tip to clean it out and had the brown/green slime. I dont think theres any problem with it, just build up of waste. I hadnt cleaned the mini filter for about 2 months and the whole Aquaclear filter didnt work anymore till i cleaned it out.
