Well I went to my LFS today (Big Al's in Newmarket, Ontario) and they just got a new eel in labeled "Brown Speckeled Moray". Its only about 12" right now and they claim its already 3/4 grown. Now I am not an eel expert, so any ideas on what it may be? I searched "Brown Speckeled Moray" on google, and I did not get much. If its going to stay as small as they claim I am hoping it may be a Chest Nut, I did not get a good like at its jaw structure to confirm so I am going back Tuesday. Its a dark brown, with what seems like dark gold speckles covering its body. Anyhow any thoughts? No pictures sorry, will try and get some Tuesday.

There are so many similar species might need a better description. What is its mouth like? Is it a crustacean eating type with a wider head without sharp teeth, or fish eater with skinnier head and mouth and noticeable sharp teeth? there are also some really cool ones with really skinny mouth and crazy huge teeth i have seen called chestnut(and hookjaw and viper if ya wanna search)? Dragon type with the big nostrils?
May help narrow it down.

It's not a viper or chestnut if it has gold markings. Maybe a goldentail? Did you go back to look at it?
