brown stuff growing in the sand

how do i get rid of it and what is it i have a 60 gallon sw tank with 3 damsel can some one help

Usually diatomic algae. I don't know how to reduce it aside from lowering whatever it feeds on. My shore crabs eat it, so I have no intention of eliminating it from my tank. Somebody who knows more will show up soon, I'm sure.

ok thanks for ur input hope to here from more sources to try to fix this

if it is algae its most likely due to higher phosphates and nitrates. Plants and constant cleaning the sand will be your only true fixes. Some phosphate absorbers, or something could help as well...

Vaccum the sand and use phosphate reducing media.

ok i will try that should i just take the sand that has the problem or just vacum everything
