Hi i'm going fishing sunday, there is a lake stocked with brown trout, i have an okuma 6 ft carbon graphite rod and an okuma vella reel
i do not want to use flies, i hate flyfishing, are berkley gulp alive minnows any good for trout? i also have berkley power bait trout nuggets. what other baits/ lures would you reccomend?
i also have a red minnow imitating rapala lure as well, what other baits and lures are good?

I too have had the most luck catching trout, including browns, with a fly rod in a stream. However, in a lake you might be better off spinfishing, simply because it will be easier for you to cover a large area. Trout in lakes can be hard to locate in my experience, and they spend a lot of time in deeper waters that you will have trouble reaching with flies.

Of course, you can never go wrong with earthworms/nightcrawlers. Brown trout love them just as much as any fish afaik. As far as lures go, the rule for trout is keep it small, and avoid gaudy colors. Small spinners (like a mepps bucktail) and spoons (castmaster, for example) and jigs will most likely be your best bet. Minnow plugs/crankbaits are probably worth trying too, but I would prefer the other options for trout.
