Brown v. Yellow Bullhead

So i have 3 bullheads in my 125

2 are brown. 1 is yellow.

They have been in there a while and i have noticed that the browns basically hide all day and night and the yellow is semi active in the day and very active at night?

Is this a characteristic of them? Just wondering i mean it doesn't bother me that they hide, it's a catfish lol

I have only ever had the yellow variety and I found them to be fairly active in daytime but certainly more active at night. They seamed to become increasingly nocturnal with age.

I have a brown. mine never came out during the day untill he got about 4inches . now i see him all day long and he hides when light go out. lol

My brown bullhead has only been in the tank about two months, but he hides all day unless I put food in. If he sees my hand above the tank he freaks out and darts into his hiding spots. I wonder if he will always be this way? I wish he would swim around during the day at least a little bit.

ya the only time the browns come out is to get the scraps of food. And the yellow swims around in the day until my jag chases him back.. But at night i see him swimming all around the tank

For me it is the same way. As soon as I turn the lights off, I see him starting to move around in place in anticipation. Then within a minute he is out roaming around.
