My 14" Dovii cichlid (Bruce) has had a strong desire for the last 2 weeks... :naughty: He either attacks and or tries to devour my girlfriend's 2 kittens whenever they're on the tank, or looking at it from a table sitting next to it. i thought that was rather funny untill a new development occurred tonight...

As a male, Bruce has been digging nests relentlessly, leaving a small portion of the tank bottom bare. Under his tank inside his stand is a favorite hiding place for the kittens to play and hide. Well, tonight i caught Bruce trying to constantly attack the plain glass bottom of his tank to get through to the kitties, and he's now doing this again as i type!!! hehehe God you've gotta love fish with teeth! :lol3: F*** Y** to the kitties!!! HAHAHA

CIchlids are just maniacs! gotta love the personality though right?
But things start to get serious when they maul other cichlids. Thats the part
with cichlids that really tick me off.

Sorry, but that would be fricking hilarious if he got to one of them. It would kind of shake up the food chain. Not really, but you got to admire the balls on your cichlid for trying.

my cat used to sit on top of my 300 and paw at the water when fish would swim by. one day i happened to pick up a huge bad ass trimac who happened to see her paw as food. she never again got on top of the aquarium. it didnt hurt her at all, but i bet she almost had a heart attack. she jumped str8 up and off stiff as a board with her back arched and tail all puffed out. as soon as she hit the ground she was gone down the hallway. one of the funnier things ive seen while keeping large cichlids.

when i first had him in the tank i had a really hard time finding a glass top that would fit it because the tank is a little old. i was a little afraid of him leaping out, but was more afraid of the fact that the kitties were drinking out of the tank by first dipping their paws into the water, and then starting to drink out of the tank head first. luckily he wasn't in the tank yet... i honestly would have loved to see what would have happened or what would have been left that is, but i'm glad it didn't because that would have resulted in me and bruce being kicked to the curb, and probably without his tank... lol

Oh man this is one of the funniests topics I've read yet....woooowee I was laughin so hard I was crying......lol. Nice! I've seen a picture of a full grown Umbie that was trying to take on a Toy Rat Terrier...that was pretty funny.....

lol thats pretty funny. I have a cat that watches my moms cichlid tank and everytime one jumps out she'll eat it... but I am sure anyone's cat would do that, I never heard the atempt opposite way haha.

Hahahaha. Kickass. Cichlids are the best!
