My first Oscar rescue, and my largest, Bruce, has been acting strangely lately. IMO
With the arrival of the 150-Gallon tank that we had been looking for, the indoor "pond" was taken down. Everyone was moved out, and into the tank. That was last Saturday, and Bruce being the now 14" WC male Oscar that he is, doesn't like to be caught, lol. After a few techniques, I managed to get him transferred to the tank, but with some cuts and scrapes. (Which should heal in time)
Once in the tank he remained at the bottom breathing fairly heavily, which I assume was from the stress of moving. As the days went by, he became more active, but stuck more towards the top of the tank. Now, the past two-three days he will go to the bottom of the tank, and sit there for a fair amount of time, and sometimes he will lay completely on his side, and just stay there. He will then occasionally rush up to look for food at the top of the tank, then shoot back down the the bottom, and it's almost as it he "bounces" off the bottom when he goes to rest on it. His whole swimming "pattern" just seems a bit... off.

Nitrate levels are at 0.25ppm and the Ammonia levels are at 0.0ppm, which all seems to be normal, and the rest of the inhabitants seem to be doing well. Is this just something that he will get over? Is it normal? The rest of the Oscars seem to be doing alright.
I am doing 30-40% water changes on the tank, just in case. ;)

Thats what oscars do. I had one that just layed down flat until feeding time for months before he finally started swimming around normally.

Really? I guess this is all new to me. 6 Oscars, and he is the only one that is acting this way, lol.
Does anyone else agree with Tim?

i do, oscars are very sensitive to physical changes in their environment, he is probably pissed to be back in a glass box, but he should eventually get over it

I've kept 24+ and 60% sulked upon acclimation.

He'll definitetly get over it. Try feeding a favorite food or live feeders which may force him become active or territorial....

Wow, alright. Guess I learned something new today. Guess moving from a 10' "pond" to a 150 Gallon Tank was a bit upsetting for him.

Well, thanks Tim for the info. The rest of the Oscars in the tank seem to try and stick by him. Just some more different behaviors that are all new to me.

And thanks for the tip snakestar, I may have to give it a try!
