I recently picked up a Brycon and it looks as though it may be a different species then the 3 I already have.

Can anyone tell me or confirm for me if this is indeed a Dentex?

Will have to get pics of the other ones, but for now which species is this?

Thanks in advance.

?

Really?

lol

Doesn't look like dentex (Dentex are more slender, assuming it is a juvi/<6") but the pic's could be a little clearer. Maybe- and this is a total shot in the dark- Whitei?

The fish in the pics is about 10".

I did a little digging and it looks like Dentex to me but the others I have seem to be the Melo somethings..... Black band in the tail and bottom fin.

Will try to get more pics but can't gaurentee they'll be any better. For each of the 2 I posted I bet I deleted 50.

Hmmm... When I think of dentex, I think of slender, silver fish, with a slightly upturned nose and a bright red tail with a dark black stripe;

That's him......

Mine's just lost the Juvie colors.....

Failed to mention it's likely still a lil pale from the 6 hour roadtrip.

I'll just take a vid, that'll be easier.

The other ones your talking about are brycon melanopterus, do you have all of them together?
