Never put one to close to a power filter, I did and the bubbles went into my filter and caused my tank to go thru a mini cycle.

Humm I have never had problems with this in my tanks if that happens. How do you know it went through a mini cycle?

Bubbles in no way would affect benificial bacteria! Bb needs oxygen to even survive! All thst happens is the bubbles get sucked up into the intake and the impeller gets outta whack, over time this may damage a filter but it aint gonna harm bb.
If your tank is reading ammonia and nitrites do a water change!

If anything the air bubbles caused your filter cavitation, slowed down the flow, wasted broke down in the filter and caused the problem.
