Out of curiosity and a heaping spoonful of skepticism, how did you take a couple blury shots of a cyst and come to the conclusion that it was a virus? Also, while we're on the subject of viruses, it won't spread because its an "RNA virus"??? Why would it not be capable of spreading itself around?

i have to agree . . . how can one come to the conclusion that a virus involving ribonucleic acid is the cause and that it's not contagious? first of all, any good human medical scientisit and veterinarian would not make such a diagnosis without a test. also, you don't want to go to a vet and ask for a fish needle. there is no such thing. plus, $100 for a needle? for hypothetical purposes, let's say this is true and you need to inject some antibiotic into your fish, all you would have to do is get a needle. the question is what gauge would you use. also, how deep should the needle penetrate the skin of a fish. there are a lot of questions that need to be answered. i would not go to a vet and ask for such items. most vets focus on mammals. only a few even focus on exotic creatures and when they do, it's mainly birds, reptiles and amphibians. i od not know any vets that deal with fish. it's a rare area of veterinary medicine.

well in my area there are needles for fish... pretty big and scary too... lol

And I made a guess... I can't go and find his tank and test for the spread of this virus...

sorry guys i was a bit busy wit school so i coudlnt write any sooner. basically the bubble popped and it was pretty nasty. however its been a couple of days and everything is closing up! in another 2-3 days im sure everythin is gonna close up 100%. hes eatin n swimmin arround like always. maybe i just got lucky this time

Keep an eye on the area for any redness or swelling. You want to make sure and catch any bacterial infections early for proper treatment. Test your water, and insure that ammonia and nitrite are zero, and nitrates are 20 or below. You just want to make sure that he's got really clean water so he can heal properly. Ask if you need any more help!
