Bubblers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have a bubble wand to add more surface agitation in my 100 gallon... my two filters seemed to be doing fine, but after i added the wand my fish seemed to be more active. a lot of people say it doesn't do much beyond aesthetics, but whatever. the success of a tank isn't dependent upon having one in it. :nilly:

In most of my tanks there is so much flow from filters that additional aeration is unwarranted.

I used a 26" long one for quite some time, but all I did was angle the spray bar so it blows out of the water to a degree and creates a huge amount of aeration. Good bye air pump. :D

It's a mix really, in my community tank I have a bubbler for the bamboo shrimp. other tanks, the cichlids seem to love the bubbles. mostly it's just for decoration.

Do you guys use bubblers on your tanks? I dont mean for decoration, but do they actually provide a "good function"? Do you really need more oxygenation in a over filtrated tank?
i use air every tank i can, mostly my big tanks

makes more current

airs out the gas above the water

if filter stops fish will be fine for a long time

alot of my fish play in the bubbles

i think it improves the fishes health

dont have to hurry when doing w/c and the filter/pump is off cus they still have air

decoration

thats all i can think of right now.lol

^^^ :iagree: ^^^

I have aeration in all my tanks, breaks surface tension for better gas exchange/adds O2 to the tank.

I also use aeration under the bio-material of al my sumps to increase their effectiveness.

Can't fight facts, it does help.

I use a bubbler because my fish seem to have a lot of fun with it. I also like it because when I do a water change, I don't have to worry about their air level.
My fish were looking for it when I removed it the other day, so I decided to keep it in.

Aeration is one of the best things you can do for fish. The less energy they use breathing the more that is left for growth, breeding, etc. Also if a power filter fails it could save lives.I have them in all my tanks!
