I am having a lot of bubbles and foam ontop of my 20 gallon long planted. Not sure whats going on, i have water circulation, i liquid fertilize. Im not sure whats causing this but theres a lot of foam and such.
ok i definatly did a water change yesterday and sucked all the bubbles out, but now i wake up today and theres probably enough bubbles to cover 1/4th of the surface area of my tank. whats goin on???
Do you aerate? Do you feed a particularly high protein food? Is your heater on/cycling? Do you vaccum the gravel? Do you see anything bubbling up through the substrate?
A lot of things could be causing it, I have seen each one of those questions aswered yes and be the cause. Your plants could be a source in the form of oxygen and/or CO2(you know that). I dont know, maybe the fertalizer is adding nitrogen...test for high nitrate, nitrite and ph etc...if nothing abnormal dont sweat it.
Also, you could be sucking air in somewhere on your filter suction side like a hairline crack in the downtube. If you have a canister it could be sucking air past a fitting somewhere...Ive had that happen to me with a HOB.
