Bubbles with a Fluval FX5

I set up my new Fluval FX5 yesterday and I'm having an issue with thousands of micro bubbles. It is very annoying. Since it's a brand new setup should I unplug the unit every so often so it can purge the air a few times a day? Does anyone know what is causing it? I read online about it sucking in air from a bubble wand but I do not have any kind of bubbler.

Just to give an idea of the filter layout..

The system itself will turn off once a day to remove air. it sounds like the screws aren't tightened all the way. They have to be tightened diagonally.

They are tight but I didn't tighten them in a pattern.

Yea they say to tighten the screws opposite. So if you do the left, then do the right etc.

^ Like the lug nuts on your cars wheels. Also, silly question, but is the filter brand new, or new to you? I got micro bubbles when my pads were dirty (if it's a used filter, perhaps a thorough pad rinsing is in order)

It's brand new. I'll try tighten it opposite sides tonight to see if that makes a difference.

This happens when the filter needs to be cleaned, obviously not in your case since its new but maybe the media is packed in to tightly recreating the same situation,.... how long has ot been running, and what type media do you have in the trays?

Do not over tighten. Another possibility is the fine mechanical media is holding air. This may my bubble problem. I had to remove the fine media

It's been running about 25 hours. I just have the larger sponges and two bags worth of AC110 bio media. I have smaller sponges on order that I will eventually run as well.
