Hi guys. Just want opinions on what you guys think this is. A person is selling these as rhoadesii but to me they look nototaenia. He bought them from another person so he has not seen the parents. In my area there are nototaenia for sale but haven't seen any rhoadesii's for years so I am a little skepticle.

I've bought 6 Bucco's and am down to 1 male who is starting to get color. It's a good picture but i would like to see more of a side profile. I think the only way you can tell is how pronounced his head is. The Bucco is blunt face while the rhoadessi has a slight slope, at least more than the bucco. There is a chance it could be a rhoadessi, but the head looks sloped. A side profile would really help!

I would have to go with nototaenia. I have notos that I raised from that size, and rhoadesii fry as well, and this definitely looks like the notos to me.

That is the only pic he showed me. I guess when I look at them this Sunday at the swap I may be able to tell a lot more. I don't really want to purchase them if their nototaenia because I already have a 8" male in my show tank and also a 10" male rhoadesii. I don't want to breed the nototaenia but only the rhoadesii. I have one 6-7" female rhoadesii and another that I believe is male. I'm trying to get more females to breed them.

Based on the more common availability of the Notos, I would lean that way. Had to say for sure at that size. You won't really know until they grow out and start showing color.

I e-mailed the seller and passed on the buccos. You guys are all correct. I believe it is a noto. Thanks.
