I was looking into to these crazy little buggers since my LFS started sell them at very good prices $2-3 I've seen them go for $8 on the internet so I figured I'd look into them. I know their crazy little bastards. I'm more interested in how I should prepare an aquarium for them if I was to purchase them. Not sure if these count as monsters, but from what I've read they seem too.

They can be considered little monsters I guess...They are active swimmers so plenty of space for starters, that's a good price price for them and you can get a nice sized group of them.

Cool so if I had a 55 gallon aquarium how many could/should I purchase? I know I need either a single specimen or a large group from my findings on the internet.

Any reason? Are they destructive? I know they will kill or bully much bigger tank mates.
I'd like to make a pretty set up unless they are like mini oscars.

They need a fast current in the tank, tend to hide where to filter is, for that current. They can grow fairly big. Very fast swimmers too ! Have fun, they're aweosme fish !

?? They do not need a fast current. I have mine with nothing but a large sponge filter. Also, they will not get bigger than 3 inches.
