So I'm thinking of adding another tank and want to do it on a low budget. I'm thinking of picking up a standard 125 and stand and those are the only new items I want to buy. I'm planning on using mostly equipment that I have around the house. I have the heaters, lights, sand and driftwood already but filtration is where I'm stuck. I'm thinking of using a fluval 406 and 305 that I have laying around and also a Marineland Emperor 400. I'm planning on nothing major being in there. Probably some 6 HRP's, a few firemouths and probably a couple of species of schooling dithers. Maybe 10 tiger barbs and 10 tetra's of some sort. What do you guys think?

First of all - you can build your own stand for about $10.... How's that for a budget.

I could but I had some serious damage to my hand from my former profession that severely limits my wood working skills. Due to this, if it doesn't look good, the wife won't agree to it.

That sounds like plenty of filtration with stocking you are planning. Doesn't look like you'll have to add any $ to your budget for filters, more $ for fish! If you are looking for some larger tetras that aren't real nippy - I'd suggest a trio of Pink Tailed Chalceus...They'll give you lots of upper level movement and a pop of color.

10 bucks for the 2x4's for a 125? Man lumber is cheap where you live.

I guess you need a mind for it.

Alternatively - cement blocks, with a sheet of something on top.

Sorry about your hand - if you don't care about looks, the cement blocks would be the cheapest and easiest on your hand.
