Hey MFK

I know a lot of you guys use plastic pot scrubbers for your DIY bio filtration system.

I have a fairly big sump which i was thinking of saving some money. i found this online.

it will i doubt it would be as good. have you look at k1 plastic media? idk if you get that in the states thought that seems cheap to me doubt the surface area on them will be as the scrubbies though

Hi clown knife. yes i have K1 which is already running. i have 11Kg of it running in a 55gal DIY sump. but i have a section on my main sump which is empty.

anything with high surface area will work

Thanks for your input. Most important, Will it be useful? or i should not save the money and get plastic pot scrubbers or even jap mats?

you can throw a bunch of old tooth brushes in there and bio will grow on there. but when you think of the cost of pot scrubbers or jap mats compared to something free. the surface area difference is negligible.

that's actually quite brilliant. post an add on craigslist having people send you their old toothbrushes, and cut off the bristle heads for biomedia.
free, and lots'o surface area.

Honestly I would just do scrubbies...there super cheap anyway ur only gonna save a few dollars might as well buy scrubbies. Imo
