So I've acquired a 48" strip with spots for two bulbs from a friend. I've just started my planted native tank and would not like to spend 50+ dollars on bulbs. The tank is a 55 gallon and currently has a few bunches of anacharis in it and I'm looking to add a few more hearty plants to it.

What bulbs are budget and be good for plant growth? I'm looking to hit up a hardware store like HD or Lowes.

Suggestions?

Most expensive bulbs i've ever even seen were like $20-$30.. but i'm sure there's more expensive ones.. sorry i can't actually help ya though

Hello; Check a local Wal-Mart. They have the 18inch aquarium plant bulbs and may have them in the longer sizes. If a plant light bulb cannot be found, look for a natural or brite white bulb. I have grown a lot of plants under these bulbs.
