Buffalo cichlid information and advise????

So i was planning to maybe get some buffalo cichlids in my future pond that i’m building but there isn’t that much information on them so I’m hoping for someone with hands on experience to maybe give some advise on how to care for them and tank mates.

Do you mean buffalo head cichlids from the genus Steatocranus?

I've not seen them raised in ponds and you probably won't really be able to see them. What size is the pond and what are the high and low temperatures of where you live?

Yeah I wanted to get a few Steatocranus casuarius and well blueprint size of the pond i wanna make will 6 feet long,3 feet wide, and 22 inches tall and i live in florida so the temperatures are pretty hot the exact temperatures are 81 highest and 71 lowest.

81 highest and 71 lowest are of the water temperatures here.

I started with 5 in a 55 gallon, 2 have slowly eliminated the others and setup seperate territories on different sides of the tank. I was hoping to get atleast a pair. They also started to eat the smaller congo tetras. I've read that they wont pair unless you have alot of current in the tank, like the rivers they are from, that's the next plan. Get a few more, add some power heads and find an African tetra that also likes alot of current.

Ok so for meanwhile they can stay in the pond for a few months before they reach adulthood and then i’ll put them in a 55 gallon aquarium with the power heads and some dither fish. Ok well thx

A friend of mine keeps 5 wild cought specimen in a 50 cm cube with just a big sponge filter. They formed a couple and started spawning when they reached 7 cm. No casualties for over two years now since the tank is full of slate and roots till the top.
He only has to take out the offspring from time to time.
