I have a 40 gallon tank with a rotkeil Severum. I plan to get a 55 gallon tank 48" 12" by 20" high. I plan to give plenty of hiding spots and breeding places. If I kept a pair of buffalo cichlids with the Severum, would the fry survive(at least 20 fry) to about 1-1 1/2" so I can sell them? Thanks for any input.

No - it's likely that the severum will kill the parents and eat the babies.
Leave the 40 to the buffaloheads and move the sev to the 55...
