I've got two 75 gallon tanks plumbed together in a DT/sump style configuration. I am now going to be housing central american cichlids. My tap water is ~7.0 pH and fairly soft which is not the best for CA cichlids. I was toying around with the idea of using a few pounds of either african cichlid substrate or aragonite in addition to the other gravel to raise the hardness and pH of my water. Would this idea work?
