i have bugs gonna use indoor fogers says put newspaper on top of tanks i was thinking shuting down the sump pump for 2 hours easer to cover with out the pipes in the way think its ok to just let the air pump go for the 2 hours gonna stick that out the window

I really do not think that newpaper will keep your fish safe, if possible I would suggest using a plastic drop cloth or soemthing similar in nature and I would enclose your whole system, I think by doing this you would have a much better chance of keeping your fish safe.

I would run the air pump outside your window then just have the air tube running into the tank ( make sure you close the window as tight as you can without pinching it off.)

I hope this helps you out.

I have successfully fogged my house with my tank running. The foger was less then 5 feet from the tank.

I powered down everything, took all my fish gear to my car. I took the biomedia out of the filter and placed it in a basket inside the tank. I then put a power head on top of the basket and pointed it towards the surface.

I took paint drop cloths and put them over the tank, and duck taped them to the tank. I then used some sealant and more duck tape to close the section where the power cord came out of the tank for the power head.

I left the tank sealed up like this for about 6 hours total. 1 during preparation hours for bombing and 3 more hours during the house ventilation.

Edit: for the sake of your fumigation you really don't want any windows of any kind open, you want your house sealed up to make it work the best.

I would not trust news paper, if your fish splash water on it it could fall into the tank or off the tank.

Great idea!
I never thought about putting the biomedia in the tank and using a power head to catch air! will use this method if I ever have to bomb, which I might have to since my neighbors just bombed their house yesterday..
