I recently ran across some info about collecting bugs to feed to your cichlids and so i was wondering which bugs are safe to feed the cichlids. And also if any of you guys have had success with vthis and could give me some advice or something.      :nilly: :woot: :help2: :1zhelp: :perv: :cool-1: :feedback: :nutkick: :headbang2 :hitting:

I collect any bug in my house and feed it to my fish. Spiders, beetles, centipedes, crickets, etc. My fish love bugs.

Same here. The best thing though is earthworms from outside. If you spray your lawn with a hose they will come out, and cichlids lOVE them. Only refrain from this if you or your neighbors have pesticide on their lawns.

like Gourami Swami said, be very careful because if the insects/worms have been exposed to any types of chemicals they may cause more harm than good. There are instructions all over the net for breeding/culturing your own live food and while it may be more trouble, it's definitely worth it imo for the reduced risks of chemical exposure or disease. :)

Like was stated before anything you catch in your house but once againn beware of pesticides. it seems the favorites for my fish are earthworms and flies. and even during the winter you can breed the flies... insects are better than store bought feeders

Hey, this is Florida, how about roaches.

Do you ever feed them those beetles that look like lady bugs, that infest minnesota towards august?
