bugs in my sump

how oftion doess one clean out there sump i just noticed littel flys and black bugs on my white meda filter stuff in my sump above bio balls took apart to look for more seems only on the white meda but lots of brown stuff in water under crimic rings leave it or clean it ?

if you google sewer flies they look like these Drain flies (family Psychodidae), also known as moth flies and sewer gnats

I'd clean it. I clean all my filters every 2 months or as necessary.
