I'm really torn here. I can either build a 262 gallon aquarium (7'X2'X30") or a 315 gallon pond (7'X2'X3') to put in my room. I'm not sure if I would like the pond or aquarium better. The aquarium would cost around $1300 and the pond would cost (complete guess, havnt done much math on it yet) about $500. I have a stock of a 1 female bluegill, 4 senegal bichirs, 1 female orangespot sunfish, and 3 goldfish. So I'm very torn, what path should I choose?

I'm thinking of having it 30" tall instead so the volume is now 263 gallons.

At this point I'm not all to sure, I'd like to see my fish but I'd also like to give them the best environment to live in.

That size of tank would give those specific fish plenty of room to live their normal life. The difference in size between the pond and tank is not that big of difference.

I'd say if you can afford it, built it as a tank. If you find as you're saving up that you won't be able to save up enough, then build it as a pond. Its cheap and easy to build a box, throw a pond liner in there, and then toss together a diy filter, or buy an FX5 to put on there.
