WOULD IT BE CRAZY FOR ME AS A NOVICE TO TRY AND BUILD MY OWN TANK?

LET ME KNWO.

THANKS,

NO, IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO BUILD ONE :D

easy on the cap locks*

what size tank are you planning on building?

I always read that its only worth it if its a custom size.

as for the crazyness part no I don't think it would be crazy to try ther is always a first time for everything:D

its easy as can be don't be scared

i say go for it and if you need advice pm me
i can walk you through it
mike

It depends, if you have the tools and resources to build one and as well as time then yeah go ahead. If you don't have any of those things then it's probably cheaper and easier to just go out and buy one.

If you have basic slills you can do it:) just search the forum for DIY tank.

after that, find your "ctrl" key (on the left), count up 2 keys, pretend there is an ant on that key and smash it. :grinyes:

If you ask me its more rewarding to build your own tank, providing you have the skill, time and desire to do it. I plan on building a cpl of tanks for my new house. I find great pleasure in DIY projects. You raise the fish from babies/juvies then you put them in a tank that you built...WOW!!!! What a rush! GO for it if everything is right.

Creation is divine.. just remember that.

come up with your own size & shape (within reason) ... get good advice from your |V|FK friends & have at it.

then when you show it off you can say .. Yup, I made that.

I think it all depends on a lot of things,

Tools required
Room to build?
Shape (curved etc)
material - glass/acrylic

If I use to tinker with making tanks, (2ft) and over time and talking to a lot of people about tank building etc.. and having a family of MFK (dad's dad and dad) you get a lot of skills, this website is cool in the fact that if you need help. people are always willing to help out..

I would start with something smaller and g*d forbid if it does not work out you don't lose a lot of water or a lot of water damage ...

try a 2ft... or 3-4ft tank.. if that works... use it as a sump in your next project!

Remember !!! DONT RUSH TANKS (that's the only thing that people fux0r3-up)

GOOD LUCK Mr Caps man!

At this point, anymore answers is beating a dead horse. Just wondering, how many repeats of the same answers before it is considered beating :naughty: F F
a dead horse?

Here are my thoughts on the matter...Start with a small tank, all glass. Then build it a custom stand and hood. That way you will have the insight and experience when you decide to build big.

If you want to build a monster tank with one large pane of glass, start smaller with the same design...maybe in the 50-75 range.
