if i was to build an acrylic tank 54"L x 36"W x 24"T how thick would the acrylic have to be? could i use 1/2" or would i still have to use the 3/4"? and that would be roughly 200 gal. correct? im not building it yet but will probably by this spring or summer. also could i possible buy one for less $$$? new or used would work but id like to stick close to the sizes i have listed. thanks -jordan

200 g to the top http://www.drhelm.com/aquarium/areajava.html

It'll work, I'm personally just not comfortable with it, Then again I like to over-build.

I think your going to have a bowing problem that bracing won't help.

Let's get some more input here tho

if 1/2" wont work ill def. step it up. i am normally an overbuilder also! anotherr question i have is can you put a tank that size on a normal floor or does it need to be reinforced?

Wood & first floor...verify the joist and bracing. If you have a crawl space it wouldn't be hard to put in some concrete blocks too stabilize it.

Concrete...your ok.
