So, I'm on travel right now and away from my tanks which leaves me with a lot of free time to think about..... more tanks. Over the last week or so, an idea has been building in my head about a rimless 90 gallon high tech planted tank. I want a 48x24x18 tall, preferably all low iron glass. Glasscages.com has the tank I want for just shy of $600, but I would have to drive to LA to get it. Or I could build it, but having never bought glass like that, I'm not sure what the price would come out to be. What do you guys think? Build or buy?

I go with build, but there are several reason I say that:

  • I am a DIYer
  • I don't live in a big enough city to have good options
  • I like customization that building offers

for a nice affordable rimless glass tank i would look at deep blue aka seapora at big als.

i bought a 75g rimless and i love it. it has framing at the bottom and black silicone. nice bevels around the glass and the quality is on point. i believe i paid just over $400 for my 75g.

Even though I prefer to build everything. I thought about doing the same thing with a four-foot by four-foot tank for baby stingrays but by the time I priced out all the glass from glasscages it was only a couple hundred more to have them build it. then if something went wrong with the tank construction it was their fault not mine. Just a thought... Lol
