Hi all,
I'm building a glass tank measuring 5'x3'x3'. I'm using 3/4 inch glass. My question is with this size glass do I need to brace the tank or can I just set it on its stand when it is done? Secondly how would I brace it, and what would I use? Thanks for the help

I think the glass thickness is fine, it wont break at a 3 foot depth 5 feet long. I think the issue is the silicon sealant. I think that will rip apart with out some kind of bracing? The base of the tank will be easy to brace. Just put the 3X5 foot bottom glass piece on top of 3/4 ply and leave enough room for 2x4 around the base. glue/screw the 2x4's to the ply and the base will be secure. You can make this part of the stand if you want.

The top will need some kind of band around it. I would use 1 inch aluminum from home dumpster, I think it comes in 6' sections. Bend it, bolt it, and wrap it around the top. Snug it up so it's tight when empty. When you fill it up it will be fine
