I also need to know how I seal glass sheets to wood strong enough to with stand a 40 pound monitor climbing on the panes if possible.. lol:popcorn:

what kind of monitor do you have? looks like hes gonna be happy!, just make sure that pond is easy to drain, you know how much they like to poop in water.

That looks like it'll be a cool monitor cage.

I used to keep Nile monitors in room sized inclosures. I used a raised plywood floor, similiar to what you have now, but higher. Then I mounted large tubs so that the fit perfectly into holes cut into the floor so that the bottom of the tubs rested on the real floor of the room. THen I put grommeted hose fittings on the bottom of the tub for easy draining. The tubs could be removed easily too, but if the monitors got in that hole under the floor, they sometimes didn't want to come out.

For flooring, I just used linoleum for easy cleaning. They eventually claw through it, but its easy enough to fix.

But it sounds like you're trying to do something different.

You could always use the EPDM rubberized coating.

dunno about how long a liquid ruber mat would last with the monitors' claws but it sure would be cheap! go check Joey's thread about this mat.

Good call. You might just look at fiberglassing or buying the fiberglass tubs.

where do I get fiberglass or a kit to do it myself, I saw greenterra's thread about his tank and want to do something similar. Considering that fiberglass is tough enough to withstand a monitor's claws and also a good water proofer. Can I just buy a kit from like home depot? I also found this stuff,(http://www.ecosmartepoxysystems.com/aqua.html) they say it is fish safe non toxic stuff that they make, but damn is it expenceive!

I believe that a good polyester based resin will do well for you. Just check around the home improvement stores. You'll find some and its a lot cheaper.
