nice..
looks like you put alot of thought into it.
i built a custom STI 38 super and picked each piece.
It was fun to work on it and tweak it till it worked flawless.

Kimber has started making a barrel and slid that do not need a separate bushing. Is supposed to be more accurate with less maintenance. Have not used, just what I heard.

I looked at it......Good for a kimber custom....Not for my liking......I think I will have a good combo with what i got as well......

Sorry for being a name brand n00b but is Ed brown, Ed from "Wicked Grips"??? If not can I strongly recomend you thumb through their gallaries for custom 1911 style grips? They make some AMAZING custom grips.

Really nice job on the partd list BTW, I bet your going to be uber happy with it.

No-Not ed from wicked grips...I looked through their stuff and was considering many things from them...But I am impatient and can't wait that long for mystuff.......Although worth every penney-Not for me to wait like that....I spend the money-I want it now....lol

They have one wilson bowie knife available for what $650 with the damascus 1911 grips on it..
I could go buy that from them now...But honestly-Damascus grips are the last thing I wont on my EDC in Alaska...if I was building a safe queen-It would be ordered already......

Thanks
I think I will be happy with the results.....Look forward to updateing things as time goes buy....

Just a random thought I had, Your list looks like it is going to add up to a nice custom. Do you shoot competitively, or just want an ultra cool 1911?

I have been thinking about dumping my S&W .45, that groups like a shot gun, and doing something like your plan. Hope you update with pictures.

Just collect them mainly...this will be my every day carry once completed......Just want reliable and nice....And not seen everyday....
I could have bought a nighthawk (again) for under 3k..But many own them up here as well as ed brown or caspian etc,etc...this is one you wont find around the next corner.....And for under 2k...I done well IMHO

I got acouple like your smitty......Got to atleast have one in the collection...lol

Every thought about just upgradeing what ya got....Would be cheaper yet

Ya, I have thought about upgrading it. Just find this one disappointing. It is the only Smith I have ever had less than excellent performance from and the only one I have considered getting rid of. I am a die hard Smith fan and kind of just want to forget I ever had this one. Not going to to anything soon, I have been thinking about trading it for several years and, because it is a Smith, have not talked myself into it.

Must add I am not as big a fan of some of Smiths more recent offerings, but I am hoping they will go back to making the quality they are known for and I can forget it ever happened.
