if i were to just use a shovel and build a pond that was big as a 30,000 gallon was the deepth, length and width it would have to be? the deeper the better! also how much would the supplies cost like the heater and filter and stuff. hoping all of it is under 5 grand thank you!

I don't think you can just shovel a 30,000 gallon pond. Maybe if you had a small army. A 3,000 might be shovel-able. Start with the size area you have in mind. List what size that is and then go from there. Are you looking to use a liner or just natural or cement? If you can do a 30,000 pond then great and start looking at supplies. If you can't fit a 30,000 and can only do a 3,000 gallon then you would know what to look for better.

call a swimming pool builder and tell him/them what you want in terms of dimensions, with an oversized underground/water-level pump-room & all plumbing in 4" PVC. Start from there, and shave off the costs of the things you KNOW you can do yourself.
Try www.surreyswimmingpools.co.uk and ask for Tom. He and I have talked about commercial aquariums & ponds in the past and he knows the difference between a pond and a pool, but ultimately you need a big tank to hold water.

For a very simple pool (pond) 5 thousand pounds might do it, particularly if you booked construction in the off-season. To do it as one of these "living swimming pools" it might be a positive to your house value.
