Building a pond

I was thinking of building a pond rather then getting a really big tank. What size pond should I build? I have a alligator gar and a rtc.

around 500-750 gallons as a minimum for both .. they'll have enough space if you keep only them

1000 to 2000 is good and reasonable when it comes to budget.. and also the electricity cost for the pumps that you will use..

a rtc alone needs 900 gal min and a alligator gar needs like 3000 cuz they get like 8ft long

If you have an rtc, go for a minimum of 8x8x3. For the alligator gar, there is honestly no way you can house him for the future. That fish can and WILL get 6-8 feet, with teeth that will take off your hands. Alligator gars just shouldn't be owned by ANY aquarist.
