I've been hunting round for info, however, for someone like me (dyspraxic, cannot even build the simplest of things), the instructions make no sense... I'm wanting to build a 48inch rack, to initially hold a 48*12*12 tank and a 48*12*18. I want the option of upgrading all tanks to 48*18*18 and would also like to be able to put a 3rd tank in later on as I'm wanting a brackish tank. It needs to be simple to build, not too bulky as am in a studio flat next year and possibly able to take apart - I am a student so will be moving around a fair bit. Any ideas on how to do this? The other option would be have one long tank on the top and two shorter but wider tanks on the bottom. I have a coldwater commuity that need a good size tank (goldfish, weather loaches, cories etc), one single channa pulchra who is about 5 inches currently and needs moving out of the 25ich tank he is in I think and the brackish fish I want are green spot/fig 8 puffers and a snowflake eel. So basically, I need a setup that will keep these happy for life (am fed up of grow-out tanks costing me an arm and a leg.) So what size tanks will I need and what would the easiest way of building the rack be? I already own a 48*12*12 tank that would probably be good for either the channa for life or possibly my brackish tank for a bit? Hope this makes sense, it seems rambling and convuluted even to myself... I also need to keep the price down as much as possible as I already spend most of my income on my fish... Oh, and a way of hiding two of the tanks so that only one is visible when the landlord comes calling would be useful... (so a way of hanging a curtain round or slotting in wooden panels)

Anyone? Or am I just going to have to do this trial and error attempting to follow plans that use us terms and are aimed at diy experts...

That video was great, thanks :) Think im going to go with either a wood built one or cinder blocks and railway sleepers possibly, I'm also going to get a quote on a metal one, as if it isn't too expensive, it might well save me a lot of time and everyone around me a lot of stress. At least no one has called me insane for wanting 3 (actually 5 now) tanks in a studio flat :D Thanks for the help

I will be getting a quote on a welded stand, then I will have a look around, thank you :)
And that would be seriously awesome :) (I know people hate the show, but that headboard tank they made on tanked would be amazing :D :D )

That looks awesome :D looking at all of ths stands people have made it definitely looks possible and will save several hundred quid... Just trying to work it how to fit a sump in for the saltwater tank I have accidentally planned :p

I hope there's more to that than what meets the eye. I see nothing but disaster. I see platform on legs on platform on legs on platform on legs... what happens when you stack 5 dinner tables and nail their feet to the next? lol.
