I AM PLANNING ON BUILDINGS SUMPS FOR A 300 GALLON A 180 GALLON AND A 150 GALLON AND I'M TRYING TO CALCULATE A FEW THINGS WHAT SIZE PIPING SHOULD I USE I WANT A FLOW RATE OF ATLEAST 1400 GPH ON ALL OF THEM BUT SOMEWHERE AROUND 2500 FOR THE 300 GALLON I AM ALSO TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE SIZE OF EACH SUMP THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED AND LASTLY IF ANYBODY HAS BUILT ANY DESIGNS THAT HAVE WORKED WELL FOR THEM PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE

Well I had a 55g sump on my 300g flowing 2400gph with no check valves and it never overflowed with a power outage It was 50% filled with biomedia. And I used a 30g on a 150g with a mag 9 pump that was moderately overstocked. I think there is a calculator on this site somewhere that will help you figure out pipe sizes but I think 1" flows 600gph

Sump size - 100-150G would work

Return line size - matched to the pump, but as small as possible to eliminate backflow during power outages.

Drain lines - probably need somewhere around 1 1/2" drain lines to accommodate 1400gph. Check the sticky in the DIY section to be sure as you might need larger PVC.

I thought my setup worked well, but for simplicity sake, just search for "frankenfilter". That should get you started. I think I posted my new filter in the "what does your sump look like?" thread.

here is a mock up of what i have planned not all of it is set such as the demensions i need suggestions it will be going on a 180 gallon tqnk any suggestions?
