So I have plate glass from old windows & I wanted to use them to make a tank. My 20gal long has 2-2.5ML thick glass, but the glass I would be using is just 1.5-2ML thick. Glass is about 6in high & 12-16in long.
I wanted to use long pieces if I can find enough of them, if not, I would like to mix them so it's a rectangle instead of a square.
The silicone is the stuff you find in stores, Silicone I, would this work to hold this size tank together?
Would the glass be thick enough?
Anything else I would need to worry about?

Did some actual measuring.
20in by 8in, I have 3 of these right now, but I can get more.
12in by 8in, 4 of these, but again, I can go out and get more from the old windows outside.
I will have to cut glass for the sides, any ideas on how to do that? Maybe I can find a bottom pane big enough for the sides to fit w/o cutting.

Here is a 10in cube, I believe I will need bracing before I can fill it with water. It's 1.5-2mm thickness. Am I right?
I found these panes while taking apart other window frames. Found 3ft long panes too. But all are just barely 2mm, how big of a tank can I make with that thickness? I will be adding bracing, after I figure out how.
How do you make them out of wood, does the silicone I work on wood too??

There is a thread in regards to silicone...I am gonna look...

There is? Using the search never gets me what I want. It just finds the word I put in any thread/post. Not always helpful when I am looking for a certain fish and it takes me to posts of people just saying they have one and that's it, lol.

I have a tube of Silicone II, says it sticks to most woods. Do I just trim the wood to fit together and fit snug against the glass, silicone the wood to itself and then to the tank? Or do I silicone the wood right to the glass and glue the ends of the wood to the next edge of wood after?
Do I need a certain wood thickness?
Ugh, I'm going to try Googling how to make wood frames again...

I used 1/8" (3mm) glass for my 10x10x12

Water testing the 10in cube. Will go out tomorrow and get a glass cutter.
Can you to euro bracing in sections? Two long ones for the front and back panes, then shorter two to fit on the sides up against the F/B pane braces' edge?
