In The Little Town Of Bedrock!
Im planning on building a tank, it will be atleast 142 gallons if not more. I was thinking of stocking it with maybe 1 Jag,1 GT,1 Oscar,1-2 JD Is that a bit of a over stock? I would be building a sump for the tank not sure of the size yet. Now my sisters are helping me build this tank money wise and they want to have a say in the tanks stocking, they would like something low budget and nice looking, I already have a African Biotope and a Peruvian Biotope so nothing from those areas please. We are planning on making the tank at least 2 feet wide (24 inch's) and were thinking maybe 2 feet tall and length would be 5 feet i beleave. Would anyone have a ballpark guess on how thick the glass would need to be? 3/8 ? Any ideas on stocking are welcome.

Thanks,
Spencer

I recon it can be done with 3/8". All though some would want to throw in a 2x4 and a grizzly bear.
The dimensions you mention may involve some funky bracing though, and it might be easier and cheaper to just buy the tank from Glasscages if you have access to them (and provided we're talking all glass here).

5x2x2 is a stock size that can be manufactured a lot cheaper than you can even buy the materials for so I question the reason for not just purchasing a 180.
