I have been looking around at options for a large tank. I was just wondering what is the best way to build your own tank. I have done construction and also some metal fab so I'm pretty sure if I had all I needed I could build a tank.

I am not sure there is a "best way". What you are looking for is whats best for you. If you have not done so already, take a look at the sticky at the top of the DIY section and look at the various builds. Once you find one that appeals to you, start asking questions and making changing to suit you better.
It all depends on how large of a tank you want...types of materials etc....there are tons of people that have made thier own tanks.....try googling homemade fish tanks and maybe that would start you on your way! Best of luck!
