I am putting together a refugium tomorrow and i want to fig out the best combo for it. I have live rock from my wet/dry that I am going to transfer in there and I plan on getting macro/chaeto to grow in there. But what about a dsb? Does it need to be a certain size/depth to be useful? Does granular size matter? Is there anything else I should consider?

A tad late on my part but... when doing DSB u want super fine sand, if for display you want to mix in some larger particles as well... but mostly super fine. If your really interested read through this, IMO the only way to do a DSB... http://www.ronshimek.com/deep_sand_beds.html
