Hello everyone.

At our company we are trying to build a large aquarium either 2000 or 4000 gallon. We are building this aquarium to raise fish and algae. Since our intent is to study algae. Any suggestions on how or who builds tanks this size.

Sorry no ideas but you are from Wi cool!!

If you're going for aesthetics and want a nice display tank Envision Acrylics does fantastic work. I've seen some of the tanks they built for the Seattle aquarium and they look great http://www.envisionacrylics.com/

What kind of algae are you studying (free floating or adherent?). Back when I was in college I worked in a lab that studied algal genetics and later in a comparative physiology lab working on turtles and fish. To house the fish and turtles we used big fiberglass stock tanks that were plumbed together for a total volume probably a few thousand gallons. Not pretty but cheap and very functional.
