Ok I have an idea to build the stand and canopy all as one unit. I am going to use 3/4" plywood for the bottem and then the styrofoam under tank. Do I need to put some supports where the red and blue lines are. The 2x6's have 3/8" bolts in them so I can dismantle when we are planning on moveing in the fall. (if the house sells).

I know it doesn't look square or level, but it is.

Here's a quick list of issues that I see:
- You are not putting the weight of the tank on the 2x6, but you're putting it on the bolts.
- 4x4s are a poor choice for tank stands. They twist over time.
- your design is way overbuilt, and while overbuilding isn't a problem, this one isn't built in the most efficient manner.
- Using non PT wood against concrete is usually a code violation.
- You aren't accounting for lateral support in your design.I'm not sure how you plan to put the 450 into place, but I would imagine it will slide on the wood. That will weaken your joints.
- You have 4x4s in front of the viewing area in the tank. I'm not sure why.

Hope that helps.

Agreed!

Plus with the canopy built into the stand, doing tank maintenance is going to be a huge pain. Though I love your originality, I think you would be better off building your stand/canopy in a more conventional way.

Good luck!

Just test fitting, I think I will break out the sawzall and cut them off and make a regular stand. Since the tank has corner over flows the back braces get in the way.

This is what counts.

I was playing around. Glad I did too, since the over flows are blocked by the back "legs". I now need to go the HD and get the plywood and Foam.

I think you can salvage the wood you have and make a stand that is properly supporting ~2.5 tons before skinning.

Oh I am going to salvage the wood, I am not going to skin it. I need to be able to remove it, incase we sell the house in the fall.

I would not use sytro foam under the base it is not stable enough and will split or squash under the pressure, under the tank yes but not the base!
Use a thick lino or something similar.
