I am planning on going the DIY sump route, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what I am doing, however, I don't trust myself on a DIY overflow. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good overflow for a 75 gallon that is also fairly cheep. Dr Fosters has a couple but they are pushing $100, is there anything cheaper?

I think you can get a simple U-tube overflow box for less than that. The CPR brand are really nice, but they are a pain when it comes to staying primed. They require an Aqua Lifter pump to stay primed. And these pumps can burn out or clog easily.

Or, you can go for something more permanent and they work great: http://www.glass-holes.com/Complete-Overflow-Kits_c3.htm

I just checked on the CPR brand and a 600GPH unit with the pump is $99 at Dr Fosters. I couldn't find them cheaper.

Oh, and I don't want to drill the tank so the second option is out.

I have been using this overflow for a few years.

Practically identical to CPR unit. Actually work better because the inlet tube is above the water line, so there is no air restriction. No sucking sound. I have the airline connected to a powerhead instead of the lift pump and it never loses prime. Starts right up after water changes and power outages.
