I have searched to see if there already was something posted on this, and have tried searching the web, but with no success. This could definitely be caused by user error… :D

I recently got some archer fish that I am going to slowly get into a brackish set up, as they were being kept/sold as fresh water. I also want to keep the tank as close to their natural environment/habit needs, including overhanging plant life and something that would hold crickets so they can shoot them down.

SO!!!

I am looking to make/purchase a sort of mesh terrarium topper type thing for a standard 75/90 gallon tank. However, I can only find small ones 10-29gal). I’ve got some ideas in my head if I have to make it myself, but I wanted some expert opinions!

Are there any sites that currently sell something like this?
OR
What, in your opinion, would be the BEST *and relatively cheap* way to construct this on my own?

I look forward to hearing what some of y’all have done and/or think about this!!

**** I'm thinking not just a screen cover, but something that could give 10-15'' extra height to the tank, and sit on the top/attach somehow...

I find screen and mesh tops in large sizes on craigslist all the time. I know it's not much of a help but you can keep your eye out.

These would be good, but I'm kinda thinking something that could add height vs a screen cover lid.

Thanks for the posts, I'll keep them in mind!

Any other thoughts?

I made something simular to what you are talking about for my turttle.

Here is the first version, plexiglass glued with silcone and screen over top of it. The silicone is not holding up and i have been repairing it with superglue. Something that bonds plexi is a good idea. You can just barley see a screen top i made. 1/2" x 3/4" materail connected with angle brackets and metal screen stappled to the under side. Also if you have crikits becareful cause they can get through the sreening i have here.
