This is going to sound dumb. I have a bunch of tanks, but not a single one I've ever had included builtins.
I now have a 180g with a builtin overflow at each corner with 2 holes in each. The tank came with bulkhead fittings for each hole (4). I have to build the standoff's, but really have no idea what I'm doing.
I kind of understand how to build the standoffs (here is the stupid part), but do I glue them onto the bulkhead fitting? Do I use 1 hole for intake and 1 for return? Does the return water remain in the overflow or do I direct it somewhere else?
Thanks,
Rob

Congrats. on a "reef ready" 180.
One hole (the bigger) for drains, the other (smaller) for returns.
Don't glue the standpipes in the fittings so they can be removed for cleaning/modifying.
Direct the return into the tank with piping, loc-line, etc.
Search "sumps", "wet/drys", "standpipes", "durso", etc. for tons of info.
Congrats. again, wish my tank was drilled.:) :)

I just purchased a 180 gallon with 2 built in overflows as well and it was my first tank with overflows. I bought a wet/dry with built in protein skimmer and tee'd it off so that I can hook-up both sides with an IN and OUT. I was debating between doing this or buying another wet/dry. My other tank is a 75 gallon and I have a Fluval FX5, Fluval 405 and a protein skimmer. Setting up this wet/dry was not hard but I am jsut not use to it yet.
