Im a little confused.. Will a yellow colour bulb or 2700k make corals loose thier colour or turn brown ?

And here 6500k bulbs are available in blue and purple colour.. Would a blue colour be more effective than the regular white colour ?

Im not sure what i said makes any sense, anyone care to interpret and explain ?

some corals grow faster at a lower kelvin value, but at a higher kelvin(blue) there pigments floresce more.

So would this work for maximum growth of a mixed coral tank ?

2hrs Actinic and Blue lighting
1hr Blue and White(6500 PL)
4hrs White(6500k Mh)
1hr Blue
2hrs Actinic

you are a little confused and have your kelvin and colors mixed up. This is how it works... with a bulb running "DAYLIGHT" Kelvin (5,500k-6500k) the color will not be so great but the growth rate of your corals will be phenomenal. This is why you run "ARTINICS" ( There are two kinds blue and purple) The difference is the nano meters. The blue bulbs will really bring out color and so will consistency of water, flow, specs, calcium, magnisium ect ect you run daylights and artinics together. If you don't want the crazy growth, you can always go wit a 14,000k bulb.

I recommend some research.. reef keeping is not easy and takes alot of knowledge.

Also what type of lighting are you running and what type of corals are you keeping?

Tank details..

DT - 2x1x1
Lighting - 2 Actinic, 2 Pl-l(6500k)

Will be adding a 70watt MH (6500K) blue colour and removing one or both the pl.

Corals
Lots of zooas, mushrooms, brain, favia, and a monti..

Your display tank is 2'x1'x1' if I understand your measurements and is a nano cube.
Then the 70w MH will be fine for this tank. See if you can get a 10,000k bulb instead of the 6500k bulb. It will give you a whiter light as the 6500k is more yellow in color not blue.
Blue lamps are higher kelvins.
Actinic light is produced between 400-550 nm in photometric wavelengths.
I think you will enjoy the 70w MH as long as you pay attention to evaporation, as the light will be hotter than the light you now have. Just keep an eye on temps and evaporation.
