I just picked up 2 new bulbs 1 is a Philips home light and the other is a Philips plant grow both 48 length and 40 watt. How long can I expect these bulbs to last before there watt rating drops? They are going on a 40 long so it will be 2 watts per gallon what type of plants can I grow in this light without CO2?

Any low light plant will do fine. The wattage does not drop off until the bulb burns out. However, the intensity of the bulb will diminish. Generally it is best to replace the bulbs every 9-12 months.
a year is a good time frame. next time i would just go with the daylight deluxe bulbs by philips. low-med light plants should work.
