Bulge in belly?

Have any of you guys Bichirs ever had a large bulge in their belly for an extended period of time? My Ornate has had a fairly large bulge more towards the front of his body for months. He seems to be fine and still eats but I'm kinda concerned that fish bones or something might be backing up or something inside his stomach (althought his stomach may be further down his body).

I'll try and post some pics later on. And I have tried not fed him or my other Bichirs anything but some sinking pellets and some frozen shrimp for a couple of weeks to see if the bulge went away but no such luck. Any ideas?

Welcome to MFK. My senegalus always has bulging stomach from eating too much. I usually feed every other day now because of that. It usually goes away after a couple of days. Have you tried not feeding for a couple of days to see if it goes away? If it doesn't then it might be some kind of intestinal parasite which you gonna have to treat with some meds.

try not feeding your bichir for a couple of days and see if it swels down, if not your bichir might have bloat

sounds like bloat or bacterial infection.keep an eye on him
